As part of our second inquiry this term - 'Mankind’s journey to find out about our Universe' we visited the Observatory. We learnt about the Sun and Moon and their physical effects on the heat and light available to Earth.
The trip included a classroom lesson with a teacher called Vanessa, a movie experience about the planets and the solar system and a group discovery time. In this photo Vanessa is showing us some of the stars we can see in the night sky at the moment. We were able to ask her questions too. We know know a lot more about our Solar System.
I really liked my second journey to the Observatory (When I was Year 2 I was in a composite class with Year 3s) And the movie was so cool because you felt like you were actually flying with the aliens and Vanessa was so good at teaching! She explained everything in primary school vocab, not saying scientific words that no one can understand. Great job Vanessa! Also the movie was really awesome and also the sky before the movie. I also liked Vanessa teaching us how to find the Southern Cross. Although I didn't see the Gemini constellation :( The movie was the same that I watched in Year 2 but it was nice seeing it again. (This comment is so long because I really enjoyed it) I also liked exploring Stardome, and learning about Matariki/Pleiades. It was very fun! I hope I go to the Observatory again ~ Carol

ReplyDeleteI had a great time!! :) Thx Mrs Venville for letting us go. We had a great time we also learnt some new things about space. Venessa was a great teacher to us. She was ready to tell us things about space. Hope everyone enjoyed it. Hope we go again soon. :)
